Hi, happy Tuesday!  I am so excited to be sharing this post with you today – we revealed our Speakers and Sessions for our 2018 Creative Founders Conference last week and the response has been incredible! This was one of the hardest things to do this year, and we actually have eight (yes, eight!) speakers for you this year.  Every single person is an expert in their field and is well-versed in many different areas of business for makers, artists, and designers.  For more details, keep reading below!


 

Teaching the Your Core Session for our 2018 Creative Founders Conference and leading us off will be Suzi Istvan of Splendidly Curious.  Suzi is actually one of our 2016 Alumni, and it has been incredible seeing what she has done since she joined us just two short years ago.

 

Suzi will cover:

– Dig deeply into your history to see how you got here today (whether you know it or not, you didn’t start this business randomly. You were called to this!)

– Lean into your future to envision the business growth strategy that you’ll fall in love with over and over again

– Finally answer the big question….your WHY

– Figure out the business model you were born to run

– Develop a plan to lean into your strengths (and get rid of the tasks you never want to do again)

After Suzi, we will take a short break, and then begin with Your Client.  This will be presented this year by Shunta Grant of Because of Zoe Designs!

Shunta’s presentation will focus on how to create lasting impressions with your customers/clients that transform them from “one hit wonders” into members of what I call your “loyal league.”

We will discuss the importance of creating expectations, memories, stories, and relationships with your audience and I will walk attendees through how to determine what that looks like for their customer/client. I’ll also provide case studies looking at companies that have mastered the art of speaking directly to the heart of their customer (because we know that purchasing is not a logical act, it is highly emotional).

Shunta will cover:

– Mastering Customer/client relationships, through expectations, memories, stories, and relationships

– Why demographics and psychographics matter, and how to implement both into your business

– How to communicate in a way that speaks to the heart of your audience

– How to understand what your audience is really seeking when purchasing from you

– How to create a “Loyalty League” of Clients

Day 2 will begin with Your Brand, which this year we will have Tiffany Tolliver of The Emma Rose Agency.

Tiffany will cover:

– Defining Your Brand’s Guiding Principles

– How To Focus on Your Why within your Brand

– Designing and Targeting Your Target Audience

– Defining The Visual Identity of Your Brand

– The Elements to a Cohesive Brand

After Tiffany’s presentation, we will have our photographer Aislinn Kate do a session on Scaling your Business.  Last year she gave this presentation as a breakout, and it was so popular that we asked her to speak to everyone, as it will benefit every one of us. She will cover hiring a team, when to add on to your business or add new services, and also when to say no to different opportunities in order to move your business forward as well.

 

Following Aislinn’s presentation, we’ll move on to Your Money, which is one that is always beneficial for everyone who comes. This year, we’ll have Heather Jordan of Durst and Jordan Accounting, which is located here in Pensacola, Florida.  She is incredibly knowledgeable about many different aspects needed when it comes to our money, so no matter what questions you may have, she will set you up well!

This session is probably one of the toughest details for creatives, as the majority of us have a really hard time looking at the money side of things – we just like to create.  However, in everything that we do, we have to make sure that in order to create a profitable and sustainable business, we are looking at the money side of things as well.  We need to be sure that in everything we do, we are taking care of both ourselves and our business well financially, and that we are taught a method that will help us to improve things in the future.  Out of all of the modules we teach during this conference, this one is probably the most beneficial for our attendees, as it helps us to make sure that we are setting ourselves up for the future.

Heather will cover:

– Small business advantages and business structure

– Sales tax records and pricing

– How and where to save money within your business

– How to price your goods + control your costs

Day Three will begin with Your Call, also known as your Marketing.   This year, we are bringing back multi-year alum and speaker Amber Housley!

 

 

Amber will many in-depth topics in various aspects of marketing, including:

– How to Market a Launch

– How to Be Consistent in your Marketing

– Sales Funnel 101

Following Amber’s presentation, I felt it was necessary to add one more session in addition to our six, so this year we’ll be adding one more:  Your Presence.  This will be taught by Maghon Taylor, who many of you know as All She Wrote Notes.

 

 

As the owner of All She Wrote Notes, Maghon has attended several hundred in person events where she is meeting and interacting with customers and selling her wares.

In this session, Maghon will cover:

– best practices for pop up shops and in-person craft shows

– the one thing you don’t want to forget when you’re speaking to an audience about your business

– virtual “live” sales and face to face interaction from the comfort of your own home

And finally, we will close out the day with Your Plan. This previously has been consistently taught by our Founder, Jennifer Faught, and it is incredibly important to me that the legacy and the style that this session has been designed with is kept how she originally designed it.  So, I will be teaching this session with the core of what SCF is at the forefront.


This session helps everyone to put the details into place with everything you’ve been learning in the last few days.  
This is where we do both goal setting for the rest of the year in addition to creating a plan to make it all work.  We want you to do the work while you’re here with us, so that we can all be there to help you as you are going along, to bounce ideas off of each other and make sure that it’s all golden.  We’ll work through actionable goals, tasks, and think about where you want things to be in your business and in life – because at the end of the day, what we are doing is not only for ourselves, we need to be sure to make sure that our business is also serving our livelihoods and those around us as well.

In particular, we’ll focus on these items:

– Review your Goals for both Personal and Business

-Create a Plan with Goals and Action Steps included

– Help to sort through everything you’ve learned, and make sense of a plan of it all

-When you get home, you’ll already know what to do next to keep your momentum going

We also understand that you need to have Breakouts with particular items that others may not, and have creative sessions built in to let your brain have a little break too.  This year, we will have breakout sessions on these particular topics.

Suzi will be teaching about outsourcing and hiring your first team.

Tiffany will implement social media styling and go over how to choose your platform of choice.

Amber will go into the details of creating a launch plan, so that you can get started right away, building upon her session as well.

Shunta will be teaching a breakout on how to maximize your limited tiem, which is something all of us can benefit from.

I’ll be teaching a breakout on creating a workflow to enhance your client experience,

And finally, Maghon will be leading our Creative Break, with her signature Learning Handlettering class that she has taught to hundreds of women.

On Wednesday, we actually open it up for you to have one-on-ones with the speakers, which can be purchased as individual sessions.  They are available from 9-1, and a lot of the times this is the only way for  you to schedule a one-on-one session with the speakers on these specific topics, especially at the discounted rate that they are sold for.  These will be available to purchase beginning in March, and the people who attended who did this have used words like “invaluable, life-changing, and the extra boost of momentum I needed.”

What makes our conference different?  At the majority of the other conferences you attend, you have to book a room, find places to eat all of your meals, and make sure that everything is taken care of separately for that.  Our conference is all inclusive – this means that all you have to do is get here, and we’ll take care of the rest.  You will receive accommodations at The Lee House for every night you are there, in addition to breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Cocktails and snacks are included too, because we all know we need those as well.

You will also receive delightful surprises along the way … we pamper you SO much beforehand and throughout your time with us.

You will also receive our SCF Workbook that is customized for each conference – our worksheets included are designed by each of the speakers, and you are receiving content that is specific to our conference only – what we do you won’t be able to see anywhere else.  Each person receives their own workbook so that you have your own notes to pull throughout.

You will also receive invaluable materials from vendors, sponsors, and previous alumni who want to pour into you as well.

And – there’s swag. Because we all know life is a little sweeter when we’re sipping from a mug from one of our fellow alums, or reading the words lettered by a new friend, right?! 🙂

Beginning in May, you’ll be able to receive a six month membership to our Community.  It is opening on December 1st of this year, so if you want to join us prior to then, great! However, when you join us at the conference, you will receive a six month membership that will have you with us from May until December of 2018.  I like to think of this as continuing your education and strengthening your knowledge as well, so that you don’t go home without any continuing tools to help you grow.

Our conference isn’t fluff.  It isn’t something that we do so that we can provide pretty pictures, it is something that we do because we know it can make an impact in your business and for your life.  This conference changes lives.  I myself am living proof.  I first walked into the Society for Creative Founders in 2015 as an attendee and felt lost, confused, and was an emotional wreck. I was tired, I was exhausted, and I knew I wanted to make a change, but I just didn’t know how to get there.  At the end of my first conference experience that year, I left and felt uplifted, ready to make a change, and finally had the tools to make it happen.  The conference for me was in late July of 2015, and just one week after returning home, I decided to close my days as a planner to pursue paper full time.  If I hadn’t had all of the other modules to help me to learn all the sides of this creative style of a business, it would have been a totally different story.
